From journalism to digital marketing
Melissa Farquharson
I have spent the past 20 years working in the media and marketing space.
I began my career as a news journalist for rural and metropolitan newspapers before joining travel industry publication Travel Weekly as a Deputy Editor.
Following a year-long sabbatical I returned to Australia and expanded my skills in the communications/public relations space firstly as a contractor to Barwon Water, then the start-up PR agency Propeller.
During that time I worked with brands such as Qantas, Australia Post, Yellow Pages, Carlton Draught, Heinz, Tetley, Farm Pride and Libra among many others.
Following the birth of my daughter, I moved my workplace permanently to Birregurra and began developing my knowledge and skills in the digital marketing space.
I recognised there were many small businesses that needed help to get online and into the digital age.
And so Main Street Communications was born.
Since then, I have helped more than 20 small businesses expand into the digital world.
I have now relocated to the picturesque Grampians region of Western Victoria and have happily added clients from nearby regions of Dunkeld, Penshurst, Ballarat and Hamilton.
